Ōmisaki Station, operated by the Shimabara Railway, is often described as the station closest to the sea in Japan and is located directly beside the Ariake Sea.
The Ariake Sea is known for having the largest tidal range in Japan, and the scenery changes dramatically with the tides.
At high tide, the sea appears deep blue; while at low tide, expansive tidal flats stretch out before the station.
The bright yellow train carss and a bench set against the seascape create a distinctive and photogenic scene.
